Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming film Chhaava, which was originally set to clash with Allu Arjun’s much-anticipated Pushpa 2: The Rule at the box office, has now been postponed. The film, initially slated for release on December 6, 2024, will now be hitting theatres on February 14, 2025.
The decision to delay Chhaava has cleared the way for Pushpa 2 to have a solo release across India. With the new release date, Pushpa 2 will dominate the theatres, ensuring maximum screen presence and a wider audience reach, making it a potential box-office giant.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh confirmed the news of the delay through an Instagram post, stating, “#Chhaava is now set for a theatrical release on 14 Feb 2025… The release date holds special significance since it coincides with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on 19 Feb 2025.”
Chhaava will now not face the competition from Pushpa 2, and the film’s release date aligns with a significant cultural moment in India, adding to its appeal. Vicky Kaushal stars as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, with Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna also playing key roles. Directed by Laxman Utekar, Chhaava is a historical action drama adapted from the Marathi novel by Shivaji Sawant. The film, produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, boasts a talented technical team, including cinematographer Saurabh Goswami, editor Manish Pradhan, and composer AR Rahman.
