The US Consul General in Karachi, Scott Urbom, along with members of the American mission, celebrated Sindh Culture Day by extending heartfelt wishes of peace and prosperity to all those observing this special occasion.
In a series of video messages shared in Sindhi, the consulate members expressed their joy by saying, “Sindh jo sakafati deharho mubarak hojay,” showcasing their respect and admiration for Sindh’s rich cultural heritage.
The consul general and his team donned traditional Sindhi attire, including Ajrak shawls and Sindhi caps, as a gesture of solidarity and celebration. Highlighting the essence of the day, Urbom said, “On Sindh Culture Day, we celebrate the rich heritage of a land renowned for its mystics, Sufis, poets, and saints. Sindh has long been a symbol of inclusivity and tolerance.”
The US Consulate General also took to social media, wishing the people of Sindh and Pakistan a joyful Sindh Culture Day. The message read:
“It’s time to honor the vibrant traditions of Sindh, a land that has inspired generations with its mystics, poets, and saints. From its timeless Sufi teachings to its respect for cultural and religious diversity, Sindh embodies the spirit of unity, inclusivity, and tolerance. We proudly join in wishing peace, prosperity, and joy to everyone celebrating this special day.”
The consulate encouraged followers to share their favorite aspects of Sindh’s cultural heritage, fostering a sense of connection and appreciation for the region’s diversity.
Celebrating Sindh Culture Day
Observed annually on the first Sunday of December, Sindh Culture Day highlights the province’s centuries-old traditions. Sindhis worldwide mark the occasion by wearing Sindhi caps and Ajrak as symbols of their love and pride for their culture.
Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori also congratulated the people of the province, acknowledging the day as an important celebration of Sindh’s rich history and heritage.
