Navjot Kaur, the wife of prominent Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, has become the center of a $100 million legal dispute following her claimed recovery from Stage 4 cancer. The Chhattisgarh Civil Society (CCS) has issued a legal notice challenging the claims made by Sidhu regarding his wife’s miraculous recovery through “traditional” remedies.
The Cancer Recovery Claims
On November 21, Sidhu publicly stated that his wife had successfully overcome Stage 4 cancer, despite doctors having given her only 40 days to live. He attributed her recovery to a specialized diet and lifestyle changes, controversially describing cancer as merely “inflammation” caused by certain foods, such as milk, wheat, refined flour, and sugar.
Medical Backlash
The claims were met with strong criticism from medical professionals and the CCS. Dr. Kuldeep Solanki, Convener of CCS, expressed concern over the potential harm of endorsing unverified cancer treatments. He warned that such statements could mislead patients, causing them to abandon medically prescribed treatments and jeopardize their health.
In their legal notice, the CCS demanded clarification on Sidhu’s statements and warned against promoting treatments that are not supported by scientific evidence.
Sidhu’s Response
In light of the criticism, Sidhu issued a video message clarifying his remarks. He emphasized that the dietary changes followed by his wife were developed in consultation with medical professionals and were intended to complement, not replace, conventional cancer treatments.
