A joint operation led by the Customs Department, Sindh Rangers, and an intelligence agency successfully uncovered and seized a significant quantity of smuggled goods in Karachi’s Bolton Market, officials confirmed on Friday.
Smuggled Goods Found in Warehouses
The raid, conducted at Chanti Gali in Bolton Market, was based on credible intelligence. Authorities uncovered a large stockpile of illegally stored goods by breaking the locks of several shops and warehouses. The confiscated items were transported in approximately ten vehicles and handed over to Customs for legal proceedings.
Arrests and Further Operations
In another operation on Hub River Road, Rangers and police arrested two suspects reportedly involved in robbery and street crimes. This development followed a series of joint raids across various regions of Karachi, aimed at curbing smuggling activities.
Targeted Locations and Recovered Items
The joint operations targeted key areas, including Hub Check Post at the Sindh-Balochistan border, Ittehad Town, Orangi Town, Manghopir, Pakhtoon Market in Banaras, and others.
The confiscated items included:
- Textiles
- Cigarettes
- Iranian diesel
- Electronic goods
- Engine oil
- Cosmetics
- Washing powder
- Betel nuts
- Laptops
- Powdered milk, chocolates, and toffees
- Tyres
- Chinese salt
- Food and daily-use items
These goods, smuggled from Balochistan to Karachi, were concealed in hidden compartments within buses and trucks.
A Major Blow to Smuggling Activities
The total value of the recovered goods is estimated in the millions of rupees. The operation represents a significant achievement in ongoing efforts to combat smuggling in the region. The seized items and suspects have been handed over to Customs authorities for further legal actions.
