Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, is reportedly planning a major shift in royal Christmas traditions. Insiders close to the royal family have revealed that Kate intends to revamp the usual extravagant celebrations and instead opt for a simpler, more family-focused holiday experience.
Sources indicate that this new direction will move away from the lavish festivities associated with the late Queen Elizabeth II’s reign, favoring a modest and intimate gathering for the royal family. A trusted insider shared with The Daily Mail that Kate’s decision comes from her growing dissatisfaction with the traditional over-the-top nature of royal holiday celebrations.
The source explained that the Princess of Wales has always found the tradition of exchanging expensive gifts on Christmas Eve somewhat “weird.” As she and Prince William take on more royal duties, they plan to put an end to this custom.
“Kate has always found the presents on Christmas Eve thing weird,” the insider said. “It is going to be got rid of when they are officially running things.”
Although this year’s Christmas will still be celebrated at Sandringham, the atmosphere will be much more laid-back and relaxed. The source noted that the celebration will take on a “middle-class flavor” when hosted at Anmer Hall, the family’s country home on the Sandringham estate.
The couple plans to host a smaller, more family-oriented Christmas gathering, featuring Kate’s parents, Mike and Carole Middleton. The focus will be on exchanging thoughtful, meaningful gifts rather than engaging in the usual consumerist exchanges.
“You can bet your bottom dollar they will be doing proper presents for each other and the kids there on Christmas Day,” the insider added.
