Pakistan: According to a spokesperson for the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), an operation in the Musakhel district of Balochistan was carried out in the early hours of Sunday. As a result, two terrorists were taken into custody and three terrorists were killed.
The spokesperson claims that the CTD and law enforcement agencies received “credible information” about Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) terrorists operating in the Musakhel neighborhood of Rarhasham.
In a statement, the spokesperson stated, “Forces [including] CTD, FC, and police were deployed in general area and late at night one of the deployed force contingent came across a group of 10-12 terrorists moving towards main road.”
“A ferocious firefight ensued after the terrorists were intercepted.”
During the firearm fight, three fear mongers were killed and two others were secured, as indicated by the representative. However, he stated that “five to seven of them managed to flee because of night conditions” and that a search was underway for them.
The spokesperson went on to say that the terrorists were arrested, their bodies were moved to a hospital, and weapons and ammunition were taken from them during the operation.
“A first information report, or FIR, has been filed with CTD. The spokesperson stated, “As it develops, additional information will be shared.”
An FIR was previously filed by the Balochistan CTD against unknown terrorists who carried out a Friday improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Mastung.
The explosion resulted in the deaths of nine people, including five children, and injured 29 others. Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti condemned the incident, expressing regret that terrorists had now begun to target poor laborers as well as innocent children.
Over the past few months, there has been a significant rise in terrorism-related incidents throughout the nation, particularly in the provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Monthly security reports indicate that despite a decrease of 24% in September compared to August, terrorist attacks experienced surges in August and July.
