ISLAMABAD: According to Dr. Andrew Kartunovon, director of the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), Russia strongly supported Pakistan’s decision to join the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa alliance) because Pakistan was a significant nation in the region.
On Thursday, he gave a speech at a seminar that was co-sponsored by the Russian International Affairs Council and the Asian Institute of Eco-civilization Research and Development (AIERD).
Mr. Kartunovon went on to say that Pakistan was a big, important country that could help promote economic ties and cooperation between the South and the South.
He emphasized the necessity of developing mechanisms to foster bilateral relations between Pakistan and Russia.
According to Dr. Abid Q Suleri, executive director of the SDPI, maintaining a multipolar world necessitated less dependence on a single currency and increased use of multiple currencies in the global financial system.
Dr Suleri likewise suggested that The Worldwide South should investigate choices for laying out an organization of research organizations.
Ms. Julia from RIAC explained that BRICS cannot assume the role of a security organization because the SCO and BRICS have distinct mandates. As a result, economic linkages and cooperation should receive more attention.
According to Senator Mushahid Hussain, they are going through a century of unprecedented transformations. For a global order that is balanced, the Global South must cooperate.
He emphasized that the Global South should strengthen comprehensive cooperation that is multifaceted and centered on development.
Dr. Ashfaq Hassan Khan suggested that Pakistan join the New Development Bank to take advantage of its opportunities for economic growth and development.
Shakeel Ahmad Ramay, CEO of AIERD, emphasized the importance of developing mechanisms for academic and literature exchange between Pakistan and Russia in his concluding remarks.
