MAINZ: On Wednesday, Bayern Munich defeated hosts Mainz 05 4-0 to advance to the third round of the German Cup. The team was led by the experienced Jamal Musiala, who scored a hat trick in the first half.
After a powerful run down the left by Alphonso Davies, Germany midfielder Musiala slotted in from a Harry Kane pass for a lead in the second minute. He also scored in their 5-0 league win over VfL Bochum on Sunday.
From close range, Musiala scored the second goal in the 37th minute.
Leroy Sane and Musiala scored twice more in the first half of stoppage time for Bundesliga leaders Bayern, who had lost in the second round in three of their previous four German Cup competitions.
