Pakistan: In a ceremony held at the parliament house on Monday, Pakistan and Russia signed a memorandum of understanding to increase parliamentary cooperation.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed on behalf of their respective nations by Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani and Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Assembly, Valentina Matvienko.
A video of the event that was shared by Pakistan’s Senate shows the signing of the agreement by the two respective dignitaries.
In addition, the Russian Embassy in Pakistan posted information about the MOU signing ceremony on X, noting that Valentina, the speaker of the Russian Federation Council, emphasized Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani’s significant contribution to enhancing bilateral relations and SCO cooperation.
During his remarks at the event, Gilani stated, “This visit marks a watershed in the long and historic journey of cooperation between Pakistan and Russia, reinforcing our shared commitment to regional peace, prosperity, and mutual respect.”
He additionally said that the understanding establishes the groundwork for upgraded parliamentary strategy and underlines the trading of parliamentary designations to additional collaboration between the two nations.
