QUETTA: Officials reported that a bomb exploded near a vehicle on Saturday in the Duki district of Balochistan, injuring four members of the Frontier Corps (FC).
The FC patrol was passing through the Mandaytak area when the improvised explosive device (IED) was detonated by unknown criminals at the roadside.
A senior security official stated, “Four FC soldiers were injured in the blast,” adding that they were working to ensure the safety of trucks transporting coal from the Duki coal fields to Punjab.
The injured were transported to the district hospital in Duki by FC and police personnel upon their arrival at the scene.
A bomb disposal team later went to the attack site to gather evidence. The initial investigation revealed that the IED was detonated using a remote.
After a number of violent attacks against miners over the past few months, Duki, a coal-rich area, has seen an increase in security.
In the coal field area on October 11, armed assailants killed 21 coal miners and injured six others. Ten mines were also set on fire and destroyed by the attackers.
Brothers shot dead Two brothers’ bullet-damaged bodies were discovered in the Splingi area on Saturday in Mastung.
While they were attending a wedding ceremony the previous day, the two were taken hostage by unknown armed men.
The locals informed the authorities of the bodies’ presence. Levies personnel arrived at the scene, took the bodies into custody, and transported them to the district hospital after receiving the information.
According to Levies officials, the victims were shot in the head from a close range.
Khushhal Bangulzai was identified as one of the victims, but the identity of his brother was not immediately known.
After medical and legal formalities had been completed, the bodies were given to the family.
