Pakistan : PM Friday, Punjab police were praised by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for killing ten terrorists in an intelligence-based joint operation by the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Mianwali police.
Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and Mianwali police launched an intelligence-based operation on information about 10 to 15 terrorists in the hilly Makkarwal Police Station jurisdiction, Punjab Police stated in a statement dated October 24.
The operation, which was led by Mianwali District Police Officer (DPO) Akhtar Farooq and supported by members of the elite force, ended in the deaths of ten Khawarij after a firefight.
According to APP, PM Shehbaz expressed appreciation to the Punjab police for their timely and effective action against the khawarij in a press release that was released today by the PM’s office.
The prime minister said, “The entire nation feels proud of its brave policemen,” and he added that the government will continue to act until terrorism is completely eradicated.
Through an official notification issued in July, the government designated the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) as Fitna al Khawarij and mandated that all institutions use the term khariji (outcast) when referring to terrorists who attacked Pakistan.
According to a digital database that is kept up by the Pak Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS), an Islamabad-based think tank, 59 terrorist attacks were committed nationwide in Pakistan in August, up from 38 in the previous month.
