ISLAMABAD: Alisher Tukhtayev, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, made the announcement on Thursday that next month, there will be direct flights between Lahore and Tashkent.
During a meeting with Senator Irfanul Haque Siddiqui, chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, at his office in Islamabad, the Uzbek ambassador made the announcement.
Senator Siddiqui extended his sincere congratulations to the newly appointed ambassador and best wishes for his time in Pakistan.
He expressed the hope that the efforts of the ambassador would result in improved relations between the two nations.
During the meeting, the Uzbek envoy told the PML-N senator about the upcoming direct flights and that the service would be expanded to other Pakistani major cities.
He stated that the initiative aimed to facilitate trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges as well as improve connectivity between the two nations.
The launch of a flight route between Lahore and Tashkent, according to Senator Siddiqui, is a significant step toward strengthening friendly ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
He emphasized that increased connectivity would open up numerous trade and cultural exchange opportunities.
He stated, “Both countries have vast potential in cultural collaboration and trade, and this initiative will allow us to explore and capitalize on these opportunities.”
The Uzbek ambassador invited Senator Siddiqui and a group of Pakistani senators to Uzbekistan on October 27 to observe the elections for the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
Senator Siddiqui emphasized the significance of witnessing the significant democratic process and expressed his gratitude to the Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan for inviting him.
