The flurry of threats has caused planes to be diverted to Canada and Germany, and fighter jets have rushed to escort aircraft in the skies above Singapore and Britain.
“Very strict action” will be taken, the Indian government and civil aviation authorities have warned.
The number of threats received by New Delhi’s civil aviation authorities over the past week is unknown, but The Times of India and broadcaster News18 reported more than 70 hoaxes targeting domestic and international flights since October 13.
On Saturday alone, at least 30 hoax threats were made, and on Sunday, at least 20 more were made to various airlines. India’s IndiGo aircraft affirmed dangers were made against six of its trips on Sunday.
Two were on homegrown courses, and four were global — connecting Indian urban communities to Saudia Arabia’s Jeddah and Dammam, as well as two separate trips to Istanbul in Turkey.
In a statement, IndiGo stated, “The safety and security of our passengers and crew is our highest priority.” We are collaborating closely with the appropriate authorities and taking every precaution possible.
Schedules and costs for airlines have been severely impacted by delays and diverts around the world. In spite of the fact that at least one person, a minor, has been detained in India, the threats have persisted.
“All others answerable for the disturbances will be recognized and properly arraigned,” India’s avionics serve Smash Mohan Naidu said after the capture on Wednesday.
According to a report in The Indian Express, an anonymous account on X, formerly known as Twitter, was banned after making bomb threats against at least 40 flights on Friday and Saturday. This included flights from New Zealand and the United States as well as international airlines from India.
Bombs have been dropped on the ship; no one will survive. Pick up the pace and clear the plane,” read the indistinguishable messages from the suspended record, the paper revealed.
An Air India flight from Mumbai to New York was one of the most recent affected flights; after its safe landing on Saturday, US security personnel swept the plane.
Different flights that were affected incorporate an Air India plane from New Delhi to Chicago, which had to make a crisis arrival in the far northern Canadian city of Iqaluit on Tuesday. Canada’s airforce needed to fly the travelers ahead.
An Air India Express plane was escorted by fighter jets from Singapore on the same day. After a threat was made against an Air India Boeing 777-300 on Thursday, British RAF fighter jets escorted the aircraft, which landed safely in London.
