According to Seoul’s spy agency on Friday, North Korea has decided to send a “large-scale” troop deployment to support Moscow’s war in Ukraine. There are already 1,500 special forces training in Russia’s Far East.
The release of specific satellite images that, according to the National Intelligence Service (NIS), showed the initial deployment revealed that North Korea had made the decision to send thousands of soldiers to assist Russia.
Seoul slammed Pyongyang’s move as “a significant security threat not only to our country but also to the international community,” according to the president’s office, who called for an emergency security meeting on Friday.
The National Intelligence Service (NIS) stated that it had “detected that from the 8th (of October) to the 13th (of October), North Korea transported its special forces to Russia via a Russian Navy transport ship, confirming the start of North Korea’s military participation” in Russia’s war in Ukraine.
The National Information Service (NIS) reports that a number of Russian landing ships and frigates have already completed transporting the initial group of troops, who are currently based at military bases throughout Russia’s Far East.
