According to AFP, England captain Ben Stokes appears to be on track to return for the second Test against Pakistan, which begins in Multan on Tuesday.
The 33-year-old had been injured during the first Test, which England won on Friday by an innings and 47 runs under Ollie Pope, who took over as captain.
Stokes participated in practice with the England team on Sunday, according to a spokesperson. Chris Woakes will likely be replaced by Stokes if he is deemed fit.
Today, Ben bowled approximately four overs at full speed. The spokesman added, “He has done some intense running and spent about 45 minutes batting in the nets.”
After today’s evaluation, a decision regarding his availability will be made within the next 24 hours. England usually announces their team two days before a Test begins, but on Monday, they will wait until Stokes’s fitness is confirmed.
During the Hundred domestic competition in August, Stokes tore his left hamstring while batting, preventing him from participating in England’s 2-1 home series victory over Sri Lanka, which was also led by Pope.
