The murder of Baba Ziauddin Siddique, leader of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and former Maharashtra legislator turned minister, has shocked not only state residents and members of his party but also leaders and activists of rival organizations. He was getting into his car after leaving his son’s office on Saturday evening when he was shot dead by three people in Bandra East. The involvement of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, the main suspect in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022, in Siddique’s death has been confirmed by Mumbai police. Interestingly, six months prior to Siddique’s death, members of the Bishnoi gang shot and killed Bollywood star Salman Khan in Mumbai. Police are currently looking into possible connections between these events because of Siddique’s connections with B-Town superstars, particularly Salman.
Siddique, a three-time MLA and previous Maharashtra Clergyman of State for Food and Common Supplies, fabricated areas of strength for a with veteran Congress pioneer and entertainer chief Sunil Dutt from the get-go in his profession. He was able to secure his MLA candidacy thanks in large part to this connection, and it also helped him break into the film community in Bombay. Siddique gained not only political notoriety but also acclaim for his extravagant iftar parties, which were attended by Bollywood royalty. From Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan to Sunil Dutt’s child Sanjay Dutt and Shilpa Shetty, his social occasions pulled in various Superstars and unmistakable lawmakers, hence encouraging collaboration between the two gatherings.

The impact Siddique and his gatherings had on these famous people turned out to be especially clear to all in 2013 when he played middle person in finishing the five-year fight between Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan, as the legislator prepared for the two to embrace one another and make up at his iftar party at a five star inn in Mumbai. After an ugly fight at Katrina Kaif’s birthday party in 2008, Shah Rukh and Salman had never spoken.
