During a multiparty grand jirga hosted by the provincial government on Thursday, the federal government agreed in principle to lift the PTM’s ban.
The “proscribed” PTM was granted permission to hold its scheduled Pashtoon Qaumi Jirga today (Friday), which the KP government would host and KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur would attend.
Gandapur stated to reporters, “We will host this jirga, and it will be peaceful.”
Gandpur stated that he would address the issues raised at the jirga, promising, “The people will be able to present their demands through the jirga and resolutions.”
People from all over the province will gather to discuss their concerns. They will present their demands based on their district, and as CM, I will attempt to fulfill these demands through a resolution.
The CM stated, “We will continue our efforts and sacrifices for peace.”
Referring to the grand jirga on Thursday, the chief minister expressed his delight that a jirga took place “according to Pashtun traditions.” The government took part, which they were authorized to do.
On the other hand, he stated, “Just because there are powers does not mean that they should all be used.”
They used that power to shell a peaceful gathering, killing four people and injuring ten others. Gandapur stated, “It is deeply upsetting.” Because they have endured so much pain and made so many sacrifices, our people have called for peace.
He stated, “Nations are formed through sacrifices.” I trust the sacrifices will pay off.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa information adviser Barrister Saif told X on Friday that the government jirga with the federal government was a “success.” He also said that the parties came to an “agreement on many points in the negotiations to promote peace.”
Saif wrote, “The representative delegation of Jamrud Jirga had a successful negotiation with the government Jirga under the supervision of the Chief Minister late at night.”
He continued, “In the Jirga, no slogans will be raised against the state of Pakistan, the Constitution, or the Pakistan Army, and no flags of any other country will be permitted.” At the jirga, only local issues will be discussed.
Saif went on to say that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will host the Jamrud Jirga, and Gandapur will present the Jirga’s demands to the federal government.
Saif stated, “The federal government has the authority to ban an organization, and they have the authority, along with the Supreme Court, to make decisions in this regard.”
He reiterated, “The chief minister’s main priority at this time is to establish peace in the province.”
In the meantime, the KP government confirmed in a statement that the Pashtun Qaumi Jirga participants would be welcomed at the Hayatabad Medical Complex and Jamrud Hospital.
