On Friday, veteran comedian and actor Abid Kashmiri passed away in Lahore. He was 74.
The news was confirmed by Radio Pakistan. Geo News reported that Kashmiri’s family revealed that he had been ill for some time, had serious medical issues with his kidneys, and was having trouble breathing.
The actor had lived and worked overseas for some time. According to the news outlet, during his most recent trip to Pakistan, he continued working until his health permitted it.
There are two sons and two daughters left behind by Kashmiri.
He was born in Lahore on May 4, 1950. He appeared in a number of television dramas, stage productions, and motion pictures as an actor. His spontaneity and comic timing made him popular. For his role in the film Bazar-e-Husn, he won the Nigar Award for Best Comedy Actor in 1988. Lohari Gate, Suraj Ke Sath Sath, Samundar, Apnay Log, and Teesra Kinara are a few other notable works.
The actor’s death was deeply regretted, and Punjab Governor Sardar Salim Haider Khan expressed his condolences.
