Islamabad: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Constitutional Court Matters and Military Trials
Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated that they will bring the matter of the constitutional court to completion and emphasized that the PPP does not support military courts.
Speaking informally with journalists in Islamabad, he remarked that if a military trial is to be conducted for the founder of PTI, it is essential to assess the evidence against him.
He added that the PPP stands against the death penalty and that the power of presidential pardon also lies with the PPP.
When asked about the political games in the country, Bilawal commented that the focus should be on “Who will be the Prime Minister?” instead of the game revolving around “Will the Army Chief be appointed or not?”
Regarding the reaction of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam to his statement about amendments before October 25, he mentioned that institutions stepping outside their constitutional limits need to return within those bounds.
When asked if October 25 is the deadline for constitutional amendments, Bilawal replied that if the amendments are made by then, the situation could be resolved peacefully. However, if the amendments do not take place, the circumstances may spiral out of anyone’s control. He reiterated that they will bring the matter of the constitutional court to completion and reiterated the PPP’s opposition to military courts.
