The CIA has intensified online recruitment efforts to increase the number of informants in China, Iran, and North Korea.
According to a report from a British news agency, the CIA has shared posts about informant recruitment on its accounts across platforms such as X, Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, LinkedIn, and even the dark web, in Mandarin, Persian, and Korean.
In the posts shared by the CIA, individuals interested in providing intelligence are informed about secure methods for contacting the agency.
A spokesperson for the CIA stated that after achieving significant success in Russia on this front, they want potential informants from other authoritarian regimes to be aware of their availability.
Recruitment of informants in Russia began in 2022, with announcements made through social media accounts in the Russian language.
Following the increase in military cooperation between China, Russia, and Iran, the CIA’s hunger for secret information has significantly intensified.
The report indicates that within the U.S. intelligence community, Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea are considered “hard targets” because infiltrating these governments poses a challenge for the U.S. and its allied intelligence agencies.
In response to the CIA’s actions, the Chinese embassy stated that the U.S. is spreading lies to create a rift between the Chinese people and the Communist Party of China, but it will never succeed in its objectives.
As of now, there has been no response from Russia, Iran, or North Korea regarding this matter.
