Beirut: Following the martyrdom of Hezbollah’s Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli airstrike, the Lebanese army has called on citizens to maintain peace and avoid actions that could escalate tensions.
According to Anadolu News Agency, the Lebanese military issued a statement urging the public to refrain from any steps that could disturb civil order, noting that the current situation is both dangerous and delicate for the country.
The statement further highlighted that Israel is an enemy nation following a destructive agenda, seeking to sow discord among Lebanon’s people. The army assured that all necessary security measures would be taken to preserve peace.
Hassan Nasrallah was reportedly martyred in an Israeli bombing of a residential building in Beirut’s outskirts, marking one of the worst escalations in the decades-long conflict between Hezbollah and Israel.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Health has reported that since October 8, 2023, Israeli bombings and attacks have resulted in the deaths of 1,673 Lebanese civilians, including 194 women and 104 children. Additionally, over 8,600 civilians have been injured.
The international community has already warned that Israel’s attacks on Lebanon could further spread the conflict, engulfing the entire region in war.
