Renowned cricketer Mohammad Yousuf has stepped down from his position as a member of Pakistan’s national team selection committee due to personal reasons.
In a statement posted on social media, Yousuf shared that he resigned from the selection committee based on personal matters. He expressed pride in contributing to the success of the Pakistan team and voiced his unwavering belief in the talent and passion of the players. Yousuf also extended his best wishes for the team’s future triumphs.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed Yousuf’s voluntary resignation but acknowledged that he will continue to play a significant role in other important capacities. The PCB extended its heartfelt thanks to Yousuf for his service as a selection committee member, highlighting that he will remain with the PCB, utilizing his vast experience and knowledge as the batting coach at the High-Performance Centre.
Mohammad Yousuf previously served as head coach of Pakistan’s Under-19 team, which secured third place in the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2024 held in South Africa.
Earlier, following the T20 World Cup, the PCB had dismissed Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq from their roles as team directors and selection committee members due to the team’s poor performance. Former cricketers Mohammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq were added to the coaching staff alongside Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten.
Additionally, Bilal Afzal was also removed from the selection committee, and both data analyst Hassan Cheema and Director of International Cricket Usman Wahla were dismissed from their roles on the committee.
