New York: Recent data shows that the preterm birth rate in the U.S. has increased by more than 10%, impacting over 5 million births.
According to reports, this rise is linked to several factors that increase the chances of early delivery, such as diabetes, sexually transmitted infections, and mental health conditions.
In addition, racial and economic disparities continue to play a significant role in this issue.
Dr. Laura Jelif Pawlowski, a professor at Rory Meyers College of Medicine in New York City and the lead author of the study, stated, “These risk factors are alarming signals that call for immediate action to address the underlying causes.”
