The German government has stated that the assassination of Hassan Nasrallah may have adverse effects on Israel’s own security.
In an interview with German TV channel ARD, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock expressed concerns that the extremely dangerous situation arising from Nasrallah’s death poses a risk of instability across Lebanon, which is not in Israel’s security interests.
Meanwhile, France has called for an immediate halt to Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon, stating its opposition to any ground operations by Israel in the region.
Following a phone conversation with Lebanon’s caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian urged Hezbollah and Iran to refrain from any actions that could lead to further destabilization in the region.
