Pakistan’s red-ball head coach, Jason Gillespie, has hinted at significant changes to the squad ahead of the upcoming series against England.
Defending his squad after the historic loss to Bangladesh, Gillespie said, “One bad series doesn’t define a player’s abilities, but if performances don’t improve, there could be major changes to the lineup.”
He emphasized that he doesn’t want to rush decisions about any player’s future, adding, “No player loses their talent overnight, but there are some things we simply cannot explain.”
Gillespie, the former Australian legend, also revealed that he has been in discussions with Gary Kirsten regarding player workload management, with a focus on giving rest to multi-format players.
Commenting on the possible replacement of wicketkeeper-batter Sarfaraz Ahmed, Gillespie mentioned, “Replacing experienced players like him requires talented young players to step up.”
