Bangkok: A farm owner in Thailand has taken the drastic step of killing 125 crocodiles out of fear that they could escape into the floodwaters and pose a danger to livestock and humans.
According to global news reports, severe flooding in Thailand has caused widespread destruction. The floodwaters damaged the walls of a farm where the crocodiles were being raised.
The farm owner had been breeding these rare crocodiles for 17 years but was worried that the compromised walls might allow the reptiles to escape, endangering the lives of people and animals in the vicinity.
He explained that, in order to protect the community, he felt compelled to electrocute the crocodiles. Prior to this tragic decision, he had requested assistance to relocate the crocodiles to temporary shelters until the floodwaters receded, but he received no response.
