Former Prime Minister and founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has urged for the immediate announcement of the next Chief Justice of Pakistan, expressing full support for Justice Mansoor Ali Shah. He criticized the government for allegedly seeking to dismantle the entire judiciary.
Speaking to journalists from Adiala Jail, Khan remarked, “Everyone knows what is happening in the Supreme Court; it’s clear that these actions are aimed at extending the ‘Gang of Three.’ They have already plunged the country into chaos, and now they are attempting to destroy the Supreme Court as well.”
He alleged that the expansion of this ‘Gang of Three’ has put the entire nation at risk, claiming, “Decisions come pre-written, and judges simply read them out. They want the judges of both the Supreme Court and High Court to fall in line, with undue pressure being applied on High Court judges.”
Khan asserted that the government is bent on destroying the judiciary to cover up electoral fraud, stating, “The elections on February 8 were declared fraudulent by the entire world.” He added that he has faced accusations regarding the events of May 9, questioning, “Where is the CCTV footage? They want to ensure that PTI never rises again. We are not allowed to hold any rallies; has any summer rally ever ended by 6 PM? The entire nation knows what is happening.”
He expressed concern about the instability of the Supreme Court and the economy, claiming, “The Chief Election Commissioner knows that Article 6 will be invoked against him, which is why the election fraud is being suppressed.” Khan indicated that a “third empire” is controlling everything, saying, “They are the captains of their team, and their goal is to ensure that the fraud does not come to light and that PTI does not rise again.”
The former Prime Minister warned that if permission is not granted for a rally in Rawalpindi, protests will ensue, demanding an announcement for the next Chief Justice’s appointment, reiterating, “We fully support Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.”
Khan likened the current government to “Yahya Khan Part Two,” emphasizing that people from East Pakistan did not want to leave Pakistan; they merely sought their rights. He criticized the use of force that led to their separation, stating, “Yahya Khan refused to hand over power to the winning party for his own benefit.”
Khan concluded by asserting that the objective of the constitutional court is to diminish the power of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
