New York: U.S. President Joe Biden has emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, stating that the spread of war in the Middle East is not in anyone’s interest.
In his final address as U.S. President to the United Nations General Assembly, Biden remarked that every nation has the right to ensure it is not attacked again, stressing that the world cannot overlook the horrific events of October 7.
He stated that the establishment of two states is the solution to the Palestinian issue, insisting that Palestinians must have the right to live in their own state. He highlighted the dire situation in Gaza, noting that an immediate ceasefire is necessary, yet a diplomatic resolution remains possible.
President Biden pointed out that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East is causing immense suffering for thousands of civilians and families of Israeli captives in Gaza.
Further in his address, Biden expressed support for the expansion of the U.N. Security Council, stating that the United Nations must return to its core mission of establishing peace in the world.
He also discussed the transformative impact of artificial intelligence, calling for responsible use of this technology and the need to secure it. Biden noted that AI is being used for both good and bad purposes and emphasized the necessity for global regulations governing artificial intelligence.
