TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed solidarity with any group defending their rights and security, without specifically naming Hamas or Hezbollah.
According to foreign news agencies, President Pezeshkian stated that while Iran does not seek war, it is being provoked into the conflict by Israel through its support for Hezbollah. He emphasized Iran’s desire for peace in the region, stating that they cannot be involved in any conflict that causes instability in the Middle East and becomes impossible to escape.
He further clarified that Iran stands with any group striving for its protection and rights, reaffirming a commitment to support those who face oppression.
This comes in light of escalating tensions, as Israel has turned its military focus towards Lebanon following its offensive in Gaza. In the past 24 hours, the death toll in Lebanon has approached 600, with over 1,600 injured due to ongoing bombardments.
Additionally, prior explosions involving thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah have resulted in around 100 casualties and over 3,000 injuries. In response, Hezbollah has launched hundreds of rockets into Israeli territory, igniting fires in multiple locations and forcing the suspension of flight operations at airports.
