Lahore: Chairman of WAPDA, Engineer Lieutenant General Sajjad Ghani (Retired), emphasized the crucial role of the Dasu Hydropower Project in meeting the country’s energy requirements through locally available, eco-friendly, and low-cost hydropower generation. He stressed the need for coordinated efforts to complete the project on time.
He made these remarks during his visit to the Dasu Hydropower Project, which is being constructed on the Indus River in Upper Kohistan. The Chairman reviewed construction activities at various sites, including the right and left banks of the main dam, the underground power house and transformer hall, as well as the crushing and pumping plants, and alternative routes along the Karakoram Highway.
Later, the Chairman participated in a jirga with local leaders and civil administration from all three districts of Kohistan: Upper Kohistan, Lower Kohistan, and Kolai Pallas. The jirga provided a platform for detailed discussions regarding payments under the resettlement package and the implementation of local area development schemes.
