Tel Aviv: The Israeli military has sent text messages to residents of the southern Lebanese city of Baalbek, warning them of possible airstrikes.
According to the Times of Israel, the Israeli army advised Baalbek residents in the text messages to stay away from buildings used by Hezbollah and their surrounding areas.
The messages specifically warned the people in the Beqaa Valley of southern Lebanon to avoid buildings where Hezbollah stores weapons and explosives.
The message stated, “If you are in a building that contains Hezbollah weapons, stay away from that building until further notice.”
Included in the text message was a voice message from Israeli army spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, conveying a similar warning.
This type of text message was also sent to Palestinians before airstrikes in Gaza, raising concerns that military action may similarly be taken in Lebanon.
It is noteworthy that just a few days ago, over 3,000 pagers used by Hezbollah commanders and personnel exploded, resulting in approximately 40 deaths and over 3,000 injuries.
Subsequently, during the funeral of those individuals, walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah members also exploded, leading to 20 additional deaths and over 450 injuries.
The day after these incidents, several key Hezbollah commanders, including Ibrahim Aqil, were killed in an Israeli operation, prompting Hezbollah to launch hundreds of missiles at Israel in retaliation.
