Babar Azam has made history in Pakistan cricket by becoming the first batter to achieve 30 or more List-A centuries. His remarkable innings of 104 runs led the Allied Bank Stallions to victory over the Engro Dolphins in the Champions One-Day Cup.
The 29-year-old’s unbeaten century came off 100 balls and included seven fours and three sixes, marking a significant turnaround after a recent dip in form. Babar’s last half-century in Test matches dates back several months, and his performances in the previous two ICC Cricket World Cups had also fallen short.
In a statement, the Pakistan Cricket Board confirmed, “Babar Azam smashed his 30th List-A century, becoming the first Pakistan batter to register 30 or more List-A centuries.” The second-highest List-A century maker for Pakistan is Khurram Manzoor with 27 centuries, followed by legendary Saeed Anwar with 26.
The Dolphins struggled to chase the Stallions’ target of 272 runs and were bowled out for just 97 runs in 25 overs. Mehran Mumtaz and Jahandad Khan each took three wickets for the Stallions, contributing significantly to their dominant performance.
Yasir Khan, Shan Masood, and Tayyab Tahir also played key roles in building the Stallions’ total, while Hussain Talat and Haris Rauf formed an important partnership that bolstered their position.
With this victory, the Stallions secured a place in the playoff stage, joining UMT Markhors and Lake City Panthers. Meanwhile, the Dolphins faced their third consecutive defeat and are now vying for the fourth playoff spot.
