Pakistan has condemned the recent terror attacks across Lebanon, which have resulted in over 30 deaths and thousands of injuries from explosions involving electronic devices, according to the Foreign Office (FO).
On Tuesday, detonations from pagers used by the armed group Hezbollah killed 12 people, including two children, and injured nearly 3,000, with Israel blamed for the attack. The following day, further explosions in Hezbollah strongholds caused at least 14 more deaths and over 450 injuries, escalating tensions with Israel.
Lebanese officials have alleged that Israel’s Mossad planted explosives in 5,000 pagers imported by Hezbollah, leading to a major security breach within the group.
In response, FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated, “Pakistan strongly condemns the attacks in Lebanon carried out through the detonation of electronic equipment. The use of cyber and electronic means for terrorism is reprehensible.”
Baloch criticized what she described as “Israel’s alarming adventurism,” which she believes threatens regional peace and security. Pakistan reaffirmed its support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and called on the international community to hold Israel accountable for its actions.
In addition, Pakistan condemned the September 12 Israeli air strikes on a Gaza school-turned-shelter that killed 18 people, including six UN staffers. Baloch described the attack as a “horrifying massacre” and criticized Israel for targeting civilians and refugee camps in Gaza.
Pakistan has urged for the full implementation of the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion on the illegality of Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories and called for an immediate ceasefire to alleviate the suffering in Gaza.
