Chappell Roan, the rising popstar behind *The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess*, is establishing clear boundaries after a troubling incident at the 2024 VMAs. The 26-year-old’s debut album has been a hit, with four songs landing on the Billboard Top 100, and she recently won the Best New Artist award at the event.
However, the red carpet turned “overwhelming” when a photographer shouted at her to “shut the f–k up.” Roan quickly responded, holding up a finger and shouting back, “You shut the f–k up, not me b–ch.”
In an interview with *Entertainment Tonight*, Roan opened up about the experience, describing it as “scary” and explaining her reaction. “I’m not taking this for the rest of my career,” she said, noting that she’s only been famous for a month and already feels the need to stand up for herself.
This isn’t the first time Roan has asserted her boundaries. Recently, she addressed fan harassment and stalking on Instagram, stating, “Women don’t owe you s–t.” She emphasized her love for music and art but made it clear that harassment will not be tolerated in her career.
