HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A Precinct 6 deputy was hospitalized on Saturday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle, as reported by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident occurred around 12:30 p.m. during a funeral procession at 9420 West Sam Houston Parkway North.
Authorities identified the injured deputy only by his last name, Garza.
According to officials, a young driver hit Deputy Garza’s motorcycle while attempting to cut through or join the procession line. Garza sustained injuries to his shoulder and shin and was transported to the hospital.
The HCSO is currently investigating the incident.
