HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A man who forced his way into an Alief apartment on Thursday has died after a victim managed to seize the suspect’s gun and fire multiple shots, according to the Houston Police Department (HPD).
Officers responded to a shooting call at the Wilcrest Park complex, located in the 8400 block of Wilcrest Drive. Initial reports indicated that a suspect had broken into an apartment and opened fire, wounding a victim.
Police confirmed that both the suspect and a victim were injured in the incident. According to HPD, two men arrived at the apartment, with one entering while the other acted as a lookout. The intruder shot the victim in the leg, but the victim managed to wrestle the gun away and fired back.
Emergency personnel transported both individuals to the hospital, where the suspect was pronounced dead. The condition of the intrusion victim was not immediately disclosed.
The lookout suspect fled before police arrived. The man who shot the intruder claimed he did not know who the intruder was. Police plan to interview the victim’s girlfriend, who was also present during the incident.
