A man is in custody after a dramatic police chase in Euless on Saturday that ended with a car crashing into an apartment building, forcing multiple residents to move.
According to the Euless Police Department, officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant for 41-year-old Carl Finstad at his home on Donley Drive on Friday. Finstad evaded arrest and was approached the next day by a Euless police officer, who tried to pull him over during a traffic stop in the 100 block of W. Ash Lane.
Finstad immediately sped off, and due to the high rate of speed in a residential area, the officer did not pursue him. However, while continuing to drive westbound on W. Ash Lane, the officer came across the scene of a car crash.
Authorities reported that Finstad had crashed into a parked car and collided with the corner of an apartment building before fleeing the vehicle on foot and jumping over several fences.
No injuries were reported from the crash, but three apartments were significantly damaged, necessitating the relocation of their residents.
With assistance from Bedford Police and a drone, Euless Police later apprehended Finstad without incident. He is now charged with assault, strangulation with a previous conviction, and two counts of evading arrest in a vehicle with prior convictions.
