In a unique display of creativity, Michael Papadakis captured the total solar eclipse in North Texas using a special technique. Utilizing heliography, a method that harnesses and concentrates the sun’s rays with mirrors and lenses, the artist etched a landscape onto a wooden canvas.
Known as Sunscribes on social media, Papadakis combines science, art, and ancient photographic techniques to manipulate the sun as if it were a brush, crafting his artwork with precision. For the 2024 solar eclipse, he depicted the skyline of Dallas in his creation.
Papadakis’ innovative artwork is currently exhibited at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! in Grand Prairie, showcasing his mastery of blending traditional techniques with modern astronomical events.
