Authorities in Montgomery are conducting an investigation following an incident where a woman, discovered alone near a winery in the Hill Country, fatally shot a Houston man, alleging that he had kidnapped and drugged her.
The woman contacted 911, initially providing an unknown location. Deputies eventually located her near a winery in the 10800 block of East US Highway 290, as reported by the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office.
On March 15, she informed authorities that she had shot a man who had kidnapped her and provided a description of his vehicle. Deputies found the vehicle in the outside lane of westbound traffic, with the purported kidnapper deceased in the front seat.
The deceased individual was later identified as 49-year-old Lance Damon Reid. He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was transported to a hospital for treatment.
According to the sheriff’s office, the two individuals were acquainted and had planned a weekend trip together, during which the incident occurred.
The investigation into the matter is currently ongoing.
