The United States Postal Inspection Service is offering a reward of up to $150,000 for details leading to the apprehension of two individuals following the robbery of a letter carrier in North Texas.
The incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. on Feb. 9 in the 500 block of Lamplighter Circle in Arlington. The perpetrators, described as two Black males under 21 years old and possibly standing between 5’10” and 6’2″ tall, are being sought by authorities.
The first suspect was clad in a black letterman jacket with red and blue stripes on the shoulders, black shorts, and a mask. The second individual wore a white shirt, blue shorts, and sported a box-cut haircut.
Kim Lewis, President of the Dallas chapter of the National Association of Letter Carriers, emphasized the concerning rise in such incidents and the heightened uncertainty among USPS employees.
The USPIS is investigating at least three other robberies, including one at the Oaks of North Dallas on Haverwood Lane on Jan. 29. Another incident involved a suspect wearing a full-face mask and a letterman jacket with white sleeves at the Sophia Apartments on Hudnall Street on Jan. 12. Additionally, on Dec. 28, two men allegedly held up a letter carrier at 3525 Colonial Avenue in Dallas.
Despite no physical harm inflicted on the carriers in these incidents, Lewis underscored the emotional toll and stress experienced by her colleagues.
NALC President Brian Renfroe addressed letter carriers at a Dallas rally, urging federal prosecutors to handle more cases involving attacks on federal employees, which carry stricter penalties than local or state charges.
Individuals with information about these robberies are encouraged to contact the U.S. Postal Inspection Service at 1-877-876-2455 (mention “Law Enforcement”) and reference Case No. 4248172-ROBB.
