A man was fatally shot Thursday night in Denton, and a potential suspect is at large, police say.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the parking lot of Winco Foods in the 2600 block of West University Drive, near North Bonnie Brae Street, Denton police said in a news release. When officers arrived, they found an unidentified man dead with at least one gunshot wound.
Police believe the gunman left the area before officers arrived, and that there was no “ongoing immediate threat to the public.” According to police, detectives learned the male gunman knew the victim “to some degree.”
Their relationship and the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still being investigated, police said in the release. A person of interest has been identified, according to police, but no further details were given.
