More than a dozen Dallas Fire-Rescue units were searching for two people who reportedly went underwater in the Trinity River on Sunday afternoon and never resurfaced.
About 3:30 p.m., first responders received a 911 call that two people went into the water and didn’t come up in the Elm Fork of the river, department spokesperson Jason Evans said.
Dallas Fire-Rescue have not released the names of the two people, but both are believed to be male, Evans said.
Authorities stopped their search shortly before 7:15 p.m., Evans said, adding that emergency crews are now in recovery mode, meaning they don’t believe the two missing people are still alive.
He said initial reports indicated the incident occurred by the dam near California Crossing Parking, located in the 1600 block of California Crossing Road.
Dallas police were also on scene.
“There has been no sign of the individuals who went under at this time,” Evans said about 5:40 p.m. Sunday.
