Residents of a far northeast Dallas apartment building were displaced from their homes late Tuesday after a fire engulfed the three-story structure, officials said.
More than 60 firefighters responded to the fire just before 10 p.m. at the Forest Hills Apartments, in the 9600 block of Forest Lane, near Interstate 635.
The 24-unit apartment building had heavy flames billowing from the second floor when firefighters arrived, and the blaze quickly spread to the third floor, into the attic space and out the roof, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said.
No one was injured in the fire, Evans said.
It was unknown Wednesday morning how many residents were displaced or how many units were damaged. The American Red Cross was assisting people who were affected by the fire, Evans said.
Investigators said the blaze began on the second floor, but the cause remains under investigation.
