A man is in custody after a SWAT standoff Wednesday at a car dealership in Rockwall.
Rosye police said officers and deputies from the Royse City Police Department and the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office were trying to serve felony arrest warrants on 37-year-old Willie Jermaine Weekley prior to the standoff. Weekly was wanted out of Royse for two counts of family violence/violation of a protective order, police said.
Just before 3 p.m., authorities got to the Clay Cooley Hyundai dealership in the 1500 block of Interstate 30E to serve the warrants. Police didn’t say why officers were serving the warrants at the dealership.
Police said Weekley hid from officers, called the victim connected to his family violence offenses and told her he was going to kill the officers if they tried to arrest him. He also said he would kill her if could escape, police said.
Rockwall SWAT responded to the dealership and around 6 p.m. found Weekley hiding inside a car, police said.
Weekley is being held in the Hunt County Detention Center on the outstanding warrants. It’s unclear whether he faces additional charges in connection with the incident.
It’s not clear whether bond has been set or whether Weekley has an attorney.
