HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A teenager is in custody, accused of fatally stabbing a woman in northwest Harris County last week.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez announced that a 15-year-old has been charged with murder in connection with the death of 62-year-old Dana Magnuson.
“Arrest update: a 15-year-old male has been arrested and charged with Murder in connection with the stabbing death of Dana Magnuson (62). The teen is now in custody at the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center,” Gonzalez tweeted on July 29, 2024.
The incident occurred on July 20 around 7 p.m. HCSO deputies responded to a call in the 20800 block of Sunshine Spring, where they found Magnuson with multiple stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities identified Magnuson a few days later, describing her as “an active community member and beloved by everyone who knew her.”
“Update: the deceased female has been identified as Dana Magnuson (62). Our team has been working tirelessly on the follow-up investigation and will continue to do so until her killer is identified and brought to justice. Dana has been described as an active community member,” Gonzalez tweeted on July 23, 2024.
Family members shared photos of Magnuson after the sheriff announced the arrest of the teen suspect.
The identity of the teenager has not been disclosed, and it is not yet clear if he knew Magnuson or what his motive might have been. He is currently in the custody of the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center.
