Peshawar, Pakistan β Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Sohail Afridi, robustly defended his government’s performance and public trust, asserting that the province enjoys good governance, which is why the people elected his party for the third time. He firmly rejected the notion that the province is facing governance issues.
Addressing a rally in Peshawar, CM Sohail Afridi launched sharp criticism at the Federal Government, arguing that the real lack of governance is found where the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has issued a formal charge sheet.
Speaking on the national economy, he emphasized that the massive sum of PKR 5300 billion was not brought in by any single person; rather, it is the tax money earned by the hard work of the public. He accused the elite mafia and certain individuals occupying power of stealing these funds, promising that he “will not let them eat these monies.”
Responding to the Federal Government’s criticism regarding security matters in KP, the Chief Minister stated that the fault does not lie with his government, urging the Federation to change its policies. He clarified that his criticism is constructive, as he not only points out flaws but also offers solutions.
Despite the political differences, Sohail Afridi showed willingness for national unity, stating: “Whatever is in the interest of Pakistan, we will definitely support it.”
